Nine Worlds?
Hey, has anyone been playing Matt Snyder's Nine Worlds? I haven't picked it up mainly because I just finished a Nobilis game and am sated on the cosmic-power-and-myth thematics, but one day my appetite for that will return, and I want to have an informed opinion about it in preparation for that day. If you've played or read it, please post your thoughts in the comments section!

I haven't heard any actual play feedback yet myself, Neel. Obviously, I'm keen to hear it.
I have heard some good feedback from a few kind souls. Ron Edwards posted this reaction and insight last night. I really liked his relation to Jack Kirby and the setting. Very cool way to approach the game, and I think a fitting one. It obviously helped him and Joshua Neff re-think the game.
I think Nine Worlds is a slow-cooker. That is, reaction thus far has been slow. I think that's because it's unusual, and people really need to read the thing, absorb the setting, and wrestle some with the rules. But, I'm quite optimistic that those who do will really find some fantastic surprises and delights within.
It's not like Dust Devils in that it's a quick sell and obvious concept. But, it's also much richer than Dust Devils. It has some healthy complexity and a reall interesting setting (if I do say so myself).
I'm ALWAYS happy to talk about Nine Worlds, answer any questions, and especially help people play the game any way I can.

I'm gonna try it at some point, but I need to get my mind wrapped around the setting first. It is exotic and cool... actually, I keep thinking I need a campaign rather than a one-shot, to give people time to soak it in.

The game is absolutely designed for campaigns. Are one-shots possible? Sure, I s'pose. You could really do some interesting things in one session as your resolve character Muses.
But, you'll miss out on a lot of the rules about gathering Valor and Pride, increasing attributes permanently, acquiring Talismans, and especially Championing or Challenging an immortal Primarch later in the game.
In essence, the game is constructed so that you earn rewards (Valor and Pride) thus enabling to broaden the scope of your conflicts and victories to the level of the immortals (Basically, the Greek gods and titans.

Chad Underkoffler posted his overview of Nine Worlds, and I finally got around to replying to his comments. He has some good (and bad, but fair) things to say about the game, and others may find his fairly brief overview helpful and more objective than my raving self!

Ron Edwards and his gaming group have been playing Nine Worlds for the past few weeks. He posted about it on the Actual Play forum at the Forge, and it looks like he'll post more from his sessions:
[Nine Worlds] Pop-Greek sci-fantasy, plus murder and sex
I talked to Ron briefly about it on the phone, and I was practically jumping up and down with his comments about the actual play, what the players did, how he "colored" certain elements like the Atlanteans and so on.
