Origins Awards Winners
The 2005 Origins Award Winners have been announced. Kind of an odd year, to say the least.
Ars Magica Fifth Edition won Best RPG; good choice from the nominees, all of which were essentially new editions. Eberron as Best Supplement? Sure! And... huh. You know, not very many categories I can honestly say I care about. Congrats to my pals over at Z-Man for their Origins, however; Shadowfist deserves one.

The ease for a new edition to win best game of the year is just one of the many problems with the Origins.

My only response to that is "When are the Diana Jones shortlist nominations announced?"

I second Shiffer. The DJs are the only award worth caring about, since the nominees are always pretty fan-frickin'-amazing.

I think there are at least two other award sets worth looking at. EN World's ENnies are outstanding when it comes to d20 material, and quite good about the rest. Particularly within their original focus, the list of nominees covers obscure as well as famous work of high qualities, and the winners are reliably sensible choices. I use the nominees list for shopping, and feel pleased with it. And Andy Kitkowski's Indie RPG Awards very consistently fish out great work in that part of the field.

When is there going to be a 20x20 awards? Well?
