The Black Road '06 -- Indie Track
The Black Road, an Amber gaming con, just announced that there'll be an indie game track at the 2006 con. Vericon always has a bunch of indie sorts, just cause there are a bunch of indie game creators in the Boston area. What other cons have significant indie gaming presence as a matter of policy?

Dreamation is a pretty active indie con, although you won't see it on their website. They actually give a free hotel room to independent RPG authors. (Note: like one hotel room for all the indie guys to share. Still, nice.)

I believe there's going to be some sort of Forge-ish gathering in April in Chicago. One might expect that it won't be the usual round of D&D.

There's not a specific indie track at ACUS, but I mentioned that I was considering running Dogs and I'm getting a lot of encouragement to do so.
TBR has two indie gamers on its con com and has sort of sucked up the hoped-for 20x20 con, so I'm not surprised that it's having an actual indie track this year. Last year I played Cats and I know there was also supposed to be a Dogs game, but the GM had to bail from the con for work reasons. That's been coming for a while.
I also hear Matt Snyder is working on a Forge con along what sounds like the Amber/small con model in the Chicago area.

I don't think TBR has so much sucked up the hoped for 20x20 con as been inspired by it. In other words, don't entirely give up hope yet. As you noted, we had Amber-themed indie games at TBR 2005 (in addition to Cats and the much missed Dogs game, I ran Mountain Witch and kpfs and played in an Otherkind variant), but this year we decided to try removing the artificial Amber-theme constraint to some extent, to see what would happen.
As for ACUS, I knew people had run a few indie games there (I know there as a Dust Devils game last year, and I think The Pool the year before), but I wasn't aware that it was possible the skip the Amber-themed part of things. Seems like a strange thing to keep secret.
Oh, and curses for the first Forge con being out in Chicago, even if it does make sense for Matt (being the one who stepped up to run it) to hold it closer to home. I'm still hoping for a northeast version of it someday, since I know there's a heck of a lot of indie designers and other Forge sorts out this way.

MACE in North Carolina had a large indie presence this past November. I don't know that its indie presence is "policy," however.
GenCon Indie^H^Hy and GenCon SoCal had a very large indie presence. I don't know about Origins.

Tacticon (and it's relative GenghisCon) used to have a fair amount of 'The Window' being played at them, but during the D&D boom we lost a lot of that sort of game. I'm hoping this year to get more indie games played. I'm running a couple of FUDGE games at GenghisCon, and we'll see what I can gather for Tacticon this September.
That said, if you're in Denver and want to run something other than d20/CoC, I'm more than willing to find room for you.
